-wise, -ish 제대로 쓰는 법!

1) ~한 방향/방식으로
clockwise: 시계 방향으로 Turn the key clockwise.
lengthwise: 세로로 길게 It got totally out of hand, lengthwise.
길이면에서 손 쓸 수 없을 정도로 내용이 길어짐
2) ~면에서/관하여
time-wise: 시간 면에서
career-wise: 커리어 면에서
money-wise: 금전적인 면에서
business-wise: 사업적인 면에서
*otherwise, likewise처럼 아예 굳혀진 표현들은 -를 빼고, 나머지 표현들은 대부분 -를 붙임.
- How are we doing time-wise? 정해진 시간에 맞춰 잘하고 있나요? / 마감기한 맞춰서 잘 하고 있나요?
- How am I doing time-wise?
- How are we doing time-wise? Okay. I'll run through them very quickly.
- How are we doing number-wise? Are we getting close to that goal?
- How are things going for you, business-wise? 사업은 잘되고?
- How are things going for you, career-wise?
- Health-wise I'm great.
- Things are not that great for me, money-wise.
- I like it price-wise, but color-wise, not so much. 가격은 좋은데 색상이 별로야.
- I like everything about it design-wise.
A: Do you think it'll help me career-wise? 커리어 면에서 도움이 될까?
B: It'll help you down the road. 앞으로/살면서 네게 도움 될거야. in the future (= down the road)
3) 현명한/좋은 판단이나 결정에 wise
<상대의 생각이 현명하지/좋지 않다고 생각할 때>
- I don't think that would be wise.
<내가 섣불리 추측해서 말하는 건 현평하지/좋지 않을 것 같다며>
- I don't think it would be wise for me to surmise something like that.
지인에게 조언할 때 It would be wise to ~ 또는 좀 더 부드러운 It would be wiser to ~
