end up 표현 / 결국~하게 되다.

어떤 상태나 상황에 이르게되다.

• I don't want to end up like last time. 나 지난번 처럼 되고 싶진 않아.
• Do you want to end up like your brother? 너 너네 형처럼 되고 싶어?

상태나 상황보다 좀 더 구체적인 장소를 의미하기도 함.

• After the party, somehow, we all ended up at my place. 파티가 끝나고 어쩌다보니 다들 우리집에 모이게 됐어.
• She ended up in a hospital. 그녀는 결국 병원에 가게 됐다. / 그녀는 병원 신세를 지게 됐다

 

• After I sold all (of) my equipment, I ended up with close to 1million won. 내 장비를 다 판매하고 나서 거의 100만원이 남았어.(생겼어)
• If you're not careful, you could end up with nothing. 조심하지 않으면 남는게 아무것도 없을 수 있어.
• If you're not careful, you could end up with a huge debt. 조심하지 않으면 엄청난 빛만 지게 될 수도 있어.

end up + ing 어떻게 하게 되는 상황,상태에 이르게 되다. ~결국 

• We tried to fix it but we just ended up starting all over again. 고치려고 했는데 (결국) 그냥 처음부터 다시 시작하게 됐어.

B: I ended up inviting him. 결국 걔를 초대했어.

A: I knew you would eventually. 결국 그럴 줄 알았어.

 

I ended up returning the shoes. 결국 그 신발 환불했어.

I ended up marrying him. 

I ended up buying the house.
